big foot beats Jesus

 It’s difficult to stop laughing these days. Well, we alternate between crying and laughing. First, I see that Elon Musk’s Grok has proved that Big Foot exists, then I see a video about ‘six proofs that Jesus never existed.’ My main thought is… why do people even care? My Theory is that there was probably a radical progressive gay guy who was preaching love and forgiveness, then the Republicans of the time put him to death in the streets for challenging their wealth and stone age beliefs. Of course, it is obvious to any scholar of the twenty first century that the bible is a metaphorical work of fiction… but it is certain that, like any work of modern fiction, the characters and events are based on real events. Someone who preaches freedom of love, freedom of religion, forgiveness, tolerance, acceptance… maybe they even supported the idea of windmills… is certain to be killed by the guys who think they are the toughest and the strongest, and the only ones worthy of having choices. 

                  The US, today, has a president who is one of the worst personalities that we have known in the history of mankind, and yet people seem surprised by his behaviour. But they all watched his TV shows. He now runs the Whitehouse like it is a TV show. He keeps firing scientists and attacking education, but he has the right-wing media so rampant that even scientific researchers sometimes come out in his defence. Whatever you do, research the facts and understand the narratives. Everything that has happened in the last 18 months has been self-inflicted and it is all based on fear and insecurity and old-fashioned thinking. 

                  Gerrymandering is something that people who know they can’t win fairly have always tried. There was a massive push for redistricting in Texas, and it took place… and this was your biggest downfall, because Texas is turning blue. And, of course, when it does turn blue, there will be conflict amidst cries of ‘rigging’. Some people simply want free and fair elections, others want to cheat because they know they can’t win any other way… they have no grace, no elegance, no eloquence, no empathy, no sympathy, no style… they are the people you would not want to be in charge of your local tiddlywinks club and yet they somehow bought their way into political power (thanks, Grok Tesla).

  03:33am and sleep is merely a vision, a wish, a dream. A day of work lies ahead and yet, here in bed, there is no rest. There was a reconnection, a revival of a love long lost, but it was brief and flickering and, as usual, something popped up suddenly to sever the connection as rapidly as it was regained. The ship sails on, silent and alone in the night. Who would have thought that a fuck in the French night could rekindle so many feelings… from love to despair. And a forgotten one: the feeling of becoming less significant when one’s lover finds someone more interesting via a chance encounter.

  At 04:30 I give up trying to sleep and make a cup of coffee. It’s the 15 th of November and the window is open because the weather is so pleasant. There’s an ever so slight movement of the air that pushes the smell of coffee to me. I’m so tired that it feels almost like a pleasant drug-induced state. Most of my friends are in the UK and Europe, so there are people to chat to. The American night is silent… most people have already arrived home from their late nights, and the early risers have not yet risen. Many people believe that if they wake up at 5am they will automatically become rich. It makes me smile. Most people either don’t have the discipline to wake up at 5am or, if they do, they wake up and doom scroll through Instagram or similar on their phones. Typically, when I am awake in the night, I am researching the stock market, reading a book, writing, having a conversation with Europe, or watching videos about life in Japan or Vietnam.
