Alternative worldview.

An elevated view of the lake. Calm. Inside I am not so calm. It seems that people seek conflict and, yes, I know that our evolution didn’t hinge on passivity, but it seems that many people actively seek irritation. We move on and attend a watch party in the office, France v Spain, and France lose. Most of my colleagues are French, so there is a sense of despair. I escape and start to walk home. On the way, I walk into the bar to escape the sense of… what is it? A sense of despair seems a little bit too strong. A sense of disappointment is probably more accurate. Disappointment that goes back to people not seeming to want to make life better. Too caught up in anger and petty grudges and traditions and conventions. Too worried about whether or not people are in the office to actually focus on anything constructive or meaningful. Too busy with petty acts to try to get the final word in a lost argument. People start, in youth, wanting power, thinking they have power, and, in older age, realising that all we have is ourselves, and if we have exerted control over people to try to obtain, gain, show power all we have done is revealed ourselves as weak and petulant. This is what those who seek power usually are. Weak. They don’t like decisions that they didn’t make, they don’t like ideas that aren’t theirs. Life changes rapidly, people and things change… we have to let go and simply focus on the positive changes that we can make.

I sip a spicy margarita and chat to the lovely staff who made it for me. There is a perfect peace in knowing that none of us wants to control or change anything about each other… we all accept and support each other for however we choose to live our lives. These are the LGBTQ+, the tattooed, the bar tenders, the drinkers, the thinkers, the travellers, the seekers, the ones who actively choose to live life differently and to hold an alternative worldview. A beautiful bird tries to sip some of my drink so I pour some water for it and it sits beside me for twenty minutes or more, seemingly watching me in fascination.

Meanwhile, weak leaders follow weak leaders… they get older and start to hate younger generations, they hate progressive thought, new ideas, new ways of living and working. They double down on tradition and bring chaos because they don’t want to see life continue without them. They don’t want people to be happy or prosperous or free… they want power and control. They want the world to go backwards.

Question everything!
